Life/Health/Somatic Coaching
My coaching passion stems from a love for helping people and seeing them grow and thrive. I am a huge believer in the joining of mind, body, and spirit, and attempt to meld many different modalities into my coach offerings, ranging from traditional coaching to movement to energy. My training in exercise, movement and rehab methods blends well with somatic coaching techniques, just as somatic coaching enhances my ability to inquire and help clients reach positive results in traditional coaching sessions. I believe in endless possibilities and deriving resilience and hope in all our quests in life.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a word that is used in many contexts. In my work, coaching is:
Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
International Coaching Federation, Definition of Coaching.
It means that you, the client, are in the driver seat of your own success, with me as coach facilitating the process of discovery, insight, and progress. It recognizes that each person has the innate abilities inside them:
We are all naturally creative, resourceful, and whole.
Co-Active Coaching, What is Co-Active?
You may not feel like it, but it is true! And sometimes we all need help revealing what we all can do inside ourselves.
Improve Your Health and Life
Has life got you on the ropes? Work, relationships, family all feeling like you’re carrying a 100 lb sack of potatoes? Are you trying to reach a healthier state but finding it difficult? Do there seem to be barriers that you can’t seem to get past? Did you try some of the popular habit gurus’ suggestions and nothing seemed to stick?
Reaching the life and optimal health you desire is only one percent knowledge which is the easy part. The other ninety-nine percent is working through the various motivational, emotional, and behaviorial barriers that we all face as 21st century humans.
Working together, we will explore and unlock the resourcefulness in each and every one of us, empowering you to make lasting change in your lives towards healthier living.
What Does This Look Like?
A coaching relationship can involve many techniques:
- Traditional life coaching –
- Evidenced based approaches combined with esoteric methods to discover and uncover root causes of issues and what you need to resolve, and in the time you require.
- Discovery of barriers and blocks to moving forward, and then their removal and resolution.
- Discovery of passions and purpose and alignment of life towards them.
- Nutrition coaching – lifestyle factors, eating patterns, etc.
- Somatic coaching – sound healing, yoga based techniques, meditation, mindfulness, etc.
We can work either independently or under the direction of a clinician, whose prescriptions you may be finding it hard to implement. Some of the common factors we will look to improve are sleep, stress, behaviors, diet, attitude, among others. We will work together to examine your current life and choose paths to where you wish to move towards. Ultimately, this is a journey of self discovery and empowerment where you will realize that all of these things are possible and that you already have all the raw materials necessary to do it!
I am certified with the International Coach Federation (ICF) with the Associate Coach Credential (ACC). My training comes from Chris Kresser’s ADAPT Health Coach Training Program, and I am an ADAPT Certified Functional Health Coach. I also have training from Marion Franklin’s Laser Focused Coaching Course, and Genco Method techniques which meld evidenced based and esoteric methods, such as the Genco Coaching Somatic Coaching Method:

In addition to my private practice, I offer coaching through three organizations. The first two are Modern Health and BetterUp where I engage with many clients in the corporations they support in the area of mental health, both in the workplace and in their personal lives. If your company offers either, email their support and ask to match with me as a coach. The third is the Unalome Agency, a boutique coaching agency supporting corporate clients and executives and helping them through barriers and reach optimal performance in both their companies and their personal lives.

What is Somatic Coaching?
Much of traditional coaching involves techniques that involve only intellectual and emotional processes. Somatic coaching takes that one step further and involves the physical.
Somatic coaching moves the center of learning from the head into the body, giving you and your clients access to all aspects of your intelligence—intellectual, emotional, and physical.
Strozzi Institute, Somatic Coaching Definition
Our bodies are inexplicably tied to our minds and emotions. They will reflect our internal experiences, as well as those directly experienced by the physical body. Using what we find in your body – tension, ailments, imbalances, etc. – we can use that information as further methods of inquiry and potential avenues for resolving issues.
My training comes from the Genco Method of Somatic Coaching. It combines traditional coaching inquiry and physical poses, with origins in yoga, to surface the root causes of issues and provide opportunities to resolve them. The system also employs various energy techniques to enhance the experience, like sound healing and meditation. Somatic coaching sessions may involve traditional coaching techniques with some physical body based inquiry, to sessions which are completely pose- and energy-based.
